|In 1894, Gustav Klimt was engaged by the University of Vienna, to paint a ceiling fresco for the faculties of medicine, philosophy and jurisprudence. The public presentation in 1900 caused discussion and protests about the three artworks. Instead of an historic adaption, Klimt chose a modern, symbolic presentation in the style of Secession. Later on, Klimt bought his painting back. The originals were destroyed in 1945. Only photographs and a partial reproduction of Hygieia from the "Medicine" are left today. The sculptural interpretation of this artwork is a piece of art and an icon for modern clinics or as a living ambiance.|
